Breast Plastic Surgery Procedures
The appearance of a woman’s breasts can deeply affect her self-esteem and confidence. Dr. Adrian Sjarif, a fully qualified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, offers a range of breast plastic surgery procedures in Sydney and Wollongong to enhance the size, shape and position of his patients’ breasts. His goal is to create beautiful, natural-looking results for patients that want to feel sexier and more confident.
What Can Breast Surgery Accomplish?
Depending on the procedure, breast surgery can do the following:
-
- Increase the size and fullness of the breasts
- Fix asymmetry
- Reduce oversized, heavy breasts
- Elevate droopy or sagging breasts
- Restore a youthful shape to the breasts
- Reconstruct one or both breasts after cancer
Women that are concerned with scarring after breast surgery are pleased to learn that Dr. Sjarif employs short scar techniques whenever possible. Shorter incisions result in smaller and less noticeable scars.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation increases the size and fullness of the breasts with the placement of silicone implants. Many patients that pursue breast augmentation have always been bothered by the size and shape of small breasts, whereas other patients have lost breast tissue to pregnancy, breastfeeding or the effects of aging. Alternatively, some women want breast augmentation surgery to balance unevenly sized breasts or to reconstruct a breast after breast cancer.
Breast Reduction
Breast reduction is designed to reduce big breasts by removing tissue and skin. Women with oversized, heavy breasts tend to experience physical and psychological side effects, such as back, neck or shoulder pain, posture problems, breathing problems, rashes or irritation under the breasts, difficulty fitting into certain clothing and unwanted attention or teasing. Breast reduction helps address all of these problems and creates a more proportional and balanced breast size.
Male breast reduction is intended for men that struggle with gynaecomastia, a medical condition in which a hormonal imbalance causes the development of excessive breast tissue. During the procedure, excess fat, glandular tissue and skin is removed to create a flatter and firmer chest.
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Breast lift elevates sagging or droopy breasts higher on the chest for a more youthful appearance. Excess skin is removed and the surrounding tissue is tightened to help improve the shape of the breasts. Ptosis (breast sagging) is commonly caused by pregnancy, breastfeeding and the natural effects of aging and gravity. Breast lift can be combined with breast augmentation or breast reduction, as needed.
Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction is designed to recreate the appearance of one or both breasts after cancer treatment (i.e., mastectomy, lumpectomy). It can be performed at the time of mastectomy or lumpectomy, or delayed until the patient has fully recovered from cancer treatment. The breast(s) can be reconstructed using implants, a flap of tissue from another part of the patient’s body, or a combination of both approaches.
Nipple/Areola Correction
The size and shape of the nipples and areolae (the darkly pigmented skin surrounding the nipples) can affect the overall appearance of the breasts. Oversized, asymmetrical, irregularly shaped or otherwise abnormal nipples and areolae can all be corrected with surgery. Corrective surgery can be performed alone or in conjunction with another cosmetic breast procedure.
